Guide : How to choose a grass trimmer

TOOLS GUIDE

How to choose an edge trimmer?

An edge trimmer cuts lawn edges along paths and around flower beds. Electric (mains/battery) for lightness, petrol for power and runtime.

01

QUICK ANSWER
Small gardens / frequent finishing → battery electric (light, manoeuvrable, quiet).
Larger areas / dense vegetation → petrol (more torque and runtime).
Line: round = versatile; square = more aggressive for tall grass / clean edges.
02

PETROL VS ELECTRIC
Petrol
POWERFUL · CORDLESS

≈ 700–1000 W equivalent, intensive use. Noisier and heavier; engine maintenance (fuel mix, filters, spark plug).
Electric (mains/battery)
LIGHT · QUIET

≈ 300–1000 W, light to intermediate jobs. Limited maintenance; mains (cord) or battery (Ah).
03

EDGE TRIMMER VS BRUSHCUTTER
Brushcutter
More powerful and heavier: brush, thickets, dense vegetation.
Edge trimmer
Lighter and more precise: finishing along edges, paths and flower beds.
04

CHOOSING YOUR CUTTING LINE
Round line
Versatile, flexible, fewer tangles; tall grass, corners, edges.
Square line
Sharper edges, clean chopping; tough grass and small brush.
05

SAFETY AND PPE
Gear up: boots, glasses or visor, hearing protection.
Work with both hands and check the area (gravel, obstacles).
Cut the power / remove the battery before any work on the cutting head.
