MAINTENANCE

How to change the cutting line on your brushcutter?

Replacing the line regularly ensures optimal performance and protects your machine. The job is quick and simple if you follow the steps.

01

QUICK ANSWER
Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark plug (or remove the battery).
Open the head, remove the old line, insert the new one and wind it in the direction of the arrows.
Feed the strands out through the eyelets, close up and check the length against the line-trimming blade on the guard.
02

THE TYPES OF CUTTING LINE
Round
Versatile, ideal for grass.
Square
More aggressive, light brush clearing.
Star-shaped
Clean cut, finishing and tall grass.
Serrated
Tough-stemmed plants, close to brush.
Twisted
Quiet, cuts through the air, easier on the engine.

03

WHEN TO REPLACE THE LINE?
EVERY 10 TO 15 USES
Or more often in dense/abrasive vegetation (fences, stones, kerbs). Replace if the line breaks often, melts, or if the cut becomes uneven.
04

TOOLS & PREPARATION
Compatible line (diameter recommended by the manufacturer).
Protective gloves and goggles.
Cloth/brush to clean the head if needed.
05

STEP BY STEP
1
Cut off the power
Engine off, spark plug disconnected / battery removed.
2
Access the head
Unclip or unscrew the cap (follow the symbols).
3
Remove the old line
Take out any remnants and clean the spool.
4
Prepare the new line
1 strand (single head) or 2 equal strands (twin head), ~2-4 m per strand.
5
Thread & wind
Insert into the anchor holes, wind in the direction of the arrows, with tight coils.
6
Close up & feed out the strands
Strands in the notches, cap on until it clicks, feed out through the eyelets; "Tap-&-Go": tap on the ground.
06

SETTING THE RIGHT LENGTH
15 TO 20 CM PER SIDE
Aim for 15 to 20 cm per side. The line-trimming blade on the guard automatically trims the excess on the first start.
07

SAFETY TIPS & ADVICE
Stick to the recommended line diameter (prevents breakage and overheating).
Avoid working continuously on abrasive surfaces (concrete, stone).
If the line "melts", take breaks and use a more suitable twisted line.
